Augie's Co-Founded Sir Douglas Quintet
Founded Organization
In the early 1960s, Meyers and Doug Sahm founded the Sir Douglas Quintet in San Antonio, Texas. Producer Huey Meaux gave the group its English-sounding name to ride the British Invasion wave. Meyers' distinctive Vox Continental organ became the group's signature sound, heard on tracks like "She's About a Mover" and "Mendocino."
