About MemoriTree
What we believe an
online memorial should be
MemoriTree is built around a few specific opinions about how families should be able to remember someone online. Free. Ad-free. Collaborative. Permanent. Tied to real-world good. Everything on this site exists to make those things true.
What we commit to
Five things we will not compromise on
A free memorial, always
Creating a memorial here costs nothing and never will. No paywalls on guestbook entries, no premium-tier features locked behind a subscription, no annual renewal fees that quietly add up. The platform stays free for every family that uses it.
No ads, no third-party tracking
Memorial pages are not the place for banner ads, sponsored funeral-home links, or retargeting pixels. We do not sell ad space, and we do not feed visitor data to advertisers. The page belongs to the family.
Built for the whole family to contribute
Add up to five people as collaborators on a single memorial. A spouse, siblings, adult children, or close friends can each have their own login and contribute different parts: stories, photos, life events, services. Nobody has to share a password.
Photos that get the care they deserve
Most memorial sites turn family photos into thumbnails and stop there. On MemoriTree you can caption them, organize them by chapter of life, choose what appears first, and swap the optimized version when a higher-quality scan turns up later.
Real trees, in real reforestation programs
Every tree planted through MemoriTree reaches the ground through 1ClickImpact and other established reforestation partners. The planting locations are chosen by people working on the ground in regions where forest cover has been lost. Not symbolic. Not vague.
Editorial transparency
How a memorial actually gets made here
We get asked these questions often, and we think anyone who runs a memorial platform should answer them in plain language. Here is exactly how the process works.
01
Who can create one
A memorial can be started by any family member, friend, or community member. The person who creates it becomes the owner and can invite up to five other people to help maintain it. There is no requirement that the creator be next-of-kin, and there is no application process.
02
What is reviewed before it goes live
The owner publishes the obituary directly. Photos and stories submitted by guests are queued for owner approval before they appear on the page. Guestbook messages post immediately, and the owner can disable the guestbook entirely if they prefer a quieter page.
03
Where AI fits in
Our obituary writer is an assistant, not an author. It takes the details a family provides and offers phrasing they can keep, edit, or discard. A family member always reviews and approves what gets published. No memorial on MemoriTree ships from a model alone.
04
What “permanent” actually means
Memorial pages stay online indefinitely. Families can update them, transfer ownership, or take them down at any time. We do not auto-expire memorials, downgrade them to a paid tier after a trial, or delete inactive ones to save storage.
Trees in memory
We plant trees where they matter most
When a family plants a tree through a MemoriTree memorial, that tree reaches the ground through 1ClickImpact and other established reforestation partners. The planting locations are chosen by people working in the regions themselves, prioritizing places where forest cover has been lost or where local communities are leading the recovery effort.
The point is to put the tree somewhere it actually changes the landscape, supports the people who live there, and contributes to a program that is already in motion. Not a symbolic gesture. A real tree, planted by someone whose work is reforestation.
The company
MemoriTree was founded in 2026 and operates from the United States. The platform is independently run and is not affiliated with any funeral home, cemetery, or aftermarket service.
