Steve Harrison
His Story Of A Life Long Lived
We gather in a spirit of deep love and remembrance to celebrate the beautiful life of Mr. Steve Harrison, who first graced this world on August 31, 1947, in Odessa, Georgia. Born to the late Ben and Lizzie Mae Harrison, Steve’s journey began in the Meriwether county school system. After completing his education, he followed the pull of family to Atlanta, Georgia, where he settled near his siblings and began an enduring career as a long-haul truck driver, a profession that defined much of his life’s work.
Steve has been called home to join those who preceded him in death, including his beloved son, Christopher Harrison. He is also reunited with his sisters, Alice (Neal) Render, Dora Mae Harrison, Mary Ruth (Nook) Thomas, and Pearl (Doll) McGhee, as well as his brothers, John (Jay) Harrison, Johnny (Bit) Coifed, and Bennie Powell.
His memory will be held forever in the heart of his loving wife, Mary Curry, and his devoted, loving sister, Mary (Verlyn) Booker. Steve’s light continues to shine through his children, Sheryl Williams, Chalanage Harrison, and Mackenzie Harrison. He leaves a vast and vibrant legacy in his 52 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren, each of whom represents a branch of the family tree he so carefully nurtured.
He will be profoundly missed by a host of nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart and who will always cherish the memory of their dear "Uncle Slim." Steve also leaves behind a large extended family, close friends, and coworkers, all of whom were touched by his presence and will carry his memory with them always. He was a man deeply loved, and his absence leaves a void that only the many cherished stories of his life can begin to fill.
