I'm devastated to be hearing about this. Sharry and I weren't very close, but we knew each other from undergrad days at UCF. We would eat lunch every day we had drawing class together and literally sit at Jimmy John's until the sun went down just talking. She was such an insanely sweet and kind person. She was one of those people you meet and know the world is lucky to have. Even though we didn't keep up contact much, Sharry is one of those people I will never forget and knew I could pick back up conversation like time hadn't even passed. She was just such a bright and beautiful soul. I feel lucky to have met her, and I know she was the type of person to leave a good mark on everyone else's lives too. I'm so sorry to her family for this loss, and may she rest in eternal peace and happiness.

A Beautiful Soul
Sharry Liang, a cherished soul born on July 30, 1995, tragically and suddenly was taken from us on January 20, 2026, in Detroit, MI. Known for her intense capacity for love, Sharry's life was a testament to the depth of her emotions and her struggle with mental illness.
Sharry's educational journey began at Arlington Heights Elementary, progressed through Darnell Cookman and Terry Parker High, and culminated in a degree from the University of Central Florida. She had an enduring love for music, frequently attending concerts that resonated with her soul. Sharry also expressed herself through writing and art, finding solace and expression in the creative process.
She is survived by her older sister, Ann, her mother, Shao, her partner, Danny, her wonderful friends and found families, her beloved cats, Jiji and Madame, and her very many plushies. Her father, Tung, preceded her in death.
Sharry's beautiful soul will be deeply missed by all who knew her, leaving a lasting impact on those she touched with her warmth and compassion.
