Rodolfo earned Ph.D. in History
In 1968, Rodolfo Francisco Acuña reached a significant academic milestone by earning his Ph.D. in history from the University of Southern California. His doctoral dissertation, titled "The Times of Francisco Macín: An Analysis of the Mexican Revolution," demonstrated his early scholarly focus on Mexican political history and social movements. This achievement was particularly notable as it occurred during a period of intense civil rights activism, positioning him as one of the few Mexican American scholars with a doctorate in the field. The rigorous training he received at USC provided the intellectual framework necessary for him to challenge traditional historical narratives that often excluded Chicano perspectives.
