Robert White was born into a musical family, the son of tenor Joseph White and lyricist Maureen O'Byrne White.
At age six, White started performing Irish songs on national radio programs, earning the nickname 'the little John McCormack'.
Made his classical debut as a tenor soloist with the New York Philharmonic under Leonard Bernstein.
Became a soloist with Noah Greenberg's New York Pro Musica, touring the US and Europe with medieval and Renaissance music.
Completed his Master of Music in vocal performance at the Juilliard School, studying with Beverley Peck Johnson.
Returned to his roots performing Irish songs, gaining international recognition and comparisons to John McCormack.
Joined the voice faculty of the prestigious Juilliard School, where he taught for decades.
The passing of the celebrated American tenor was announced.
