Rich McGeorge, a standout tight end for the Green Bay Packers and later a respected coach, passed away on December 20, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on September 14, 1948, in Roanoke, Virginia, McGeorge was a star athlete at Durham College before being drafted by the Packers in the first round of the 1970 NFL Draft.
He played his entire nine-season professional career in Green Bay, becoming known for his reliability and toughness. After hanging up his cleats, McGeorge transitioned to the sidelines, enjoying a long tenure as an assistant coach at the collegiate and professional levels, including stints with the Miami Dolphins and Duke University. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, honoring his exceptional playing days.
