Raymond Antone Bailey
A Legacy of Faith
Today, we gather to celebrate the life of Reverend Raymond Antone Bailey, known to all who loved him as Tony. While our hearts are heavy with loss, they are also filled with gratitude for a life that was lived with purpose, faith, laughter, and love.
Tony's story began as the beloved son of Ray Bailey and Jackie Conn. He was treasured by his grandparents, Marion and Vesta Bailey, and Isaac and Mattie Lou Conn, who doted on him and helped shape the man he would become. From an early age, Tony had a spark about him—a mischievous spirit that kept life interesting. His sisters, Renee and Sylvia, knew that better than anyone. To them, he was not only a brother but a prankster, a rascal, and a constant source of stories that would be told and retold for years.
As he grew, Tony answered a higher calling. He devoted his life to serving God and serving people. As a pastor, and then a college professor at Christian Life Center, he poured himself into teaching, mentoring, and encouraging others in their walk of faith. His ministry extended far beyond the walls of any single church. Throughout his years of service, he helped establish and support churches, shepherding congregations and nurturing spiritual communities wherever God led him.
Tony's passion for the Gospel carried him across the globe. He traveled extensively, sharing the message of Christ and inspiring believers to embrace the power and discipline of early morning prayer. He believed that some of life's most profound moments happened in those quiet hours before dawn, when hearts were open and the voice of God could be heard most clearly. Through his teaching and example, countless lives were strengthened, renewed, and transformed.
Yet for all his accomplishments in ministry, Tony's greatest joy was found in his family.
He was a loving father to Tiffany and Crystal. He was proud of the women they became and cherished every opportunity to encourage, support, and celebrate them. His love as a father was steadfast, generous, and unconditional.
He was also the devoted and adoring husband of Karen for nearly 49 years. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, partnership, and love. Through every season, they stood side by side, sharing joys, challenges, adventures, and countless memories. Karen was not only his wife but his companion, confidante, and greatest earthly blessing.
And then there were his grandchildren—Raegan, Cole, and McKenna. They were truly the light of his life. Nothing brought a bigger smile to Tony's face than spending time with them. He delighted in their accomplishments, treasured their laughter, and loved them with all his heart. They were his world, and anyone who knew him could see the special joy he found in being their grandfather.
Tony leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured by titles, sermons preached, miles traveled, or churches planted. His legacy lives on in the people he loved, the lives he touched, and the faith he shared. It lives on in every person he encouraged to pray, every student he taught, every congregation he served, and every family member who carries a part of him forward.
We will remember his unwavering faith. We will remember his servant's heart. We will remember his laughter, his stories, his playful spirit, and his ability to bring joy into a room. We will remember a man who loved God deeply and loved people sincerely.
Though we grieve today, we do not grieve without hope. Tony spent his life preparing others for eternity, and now he has entered into the presence of the Savior he faithfully served. The race has been run, the work has been completed, and the faithful servant has gone home.
Reverend Tony Bailey will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
May his memory be a blessing, his faith an inspiration, and his legacy a guide for generations to come.
