Born in Englewood, New Jersey, Napolitano's lifelong connection to produce began in his youth. He started selling fruits and vegetables at his family's farmer's market in 1953. By 1970, he took over the family business, Napolitano Produce, which he ran until 1997, expanding it into a community staple that served Bergen County for 53 years before closing in 2006.
Napolitano's television career took off in the 1980s after being discovered by a producer. He became a trusted source for produce information, known for his warm demeanor and practical advice. His segments appeared on WNBC in New York City for 33 years and also on WCAU in Philadelphia. He was also a familiar face in commercials and at events for the Pathmark supermarket chain.
