Nicholas's Graduated from University of Cape Town with Law Degree
Education
After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Natal, Nicholas Roland Leybourne Haysom earned his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Cape Town in 1978. During this formative period, he served as the president of the National Union of South African Students, a role that placed him at the forefront of student resistance against the apartheid regime. His academic achievements were inextricably linked to his burgeoning reputation as a human rights defender, leading him to join the Centre for Applied Legal Studies where he specialized in labor law and cases involving police violence. This legal foundation proved essential for his future work in dismantling institutionalized racism through the South African court system.
