Linda Gail Turner
A mothers love....
Our mother, Linda Gail Turner, known to her children and grandchildren as “Grammie”, peacefully left this world on February 03,2026 surrounded by her children, grandchildren and family. Being her children was one of the greatest honors of our lives. She was the kind of woman who gave endlessly—of her time, her patience, her laughter, and her heart. To the world, she may have been known as a friend, a sister, a coworker, or a neighbor, but to us she was home. She was our first teacher, our fiercest protector, and our steady place to land when life got hard. Our mom had a way of making people feel seen and cared for. Whether it was through her advice, her sense of humor, or the quiet things she did without ever asking for credit, she left a mark on everyone who knew her. She taught us the value of kindness, honesty, and showing up for the people you love—lessons we will carry with us forever. She loved simple joys- family gatherings, cooking, music, holidays, and she found beauty in everyday moments. Even in difficult times, she showed strength and grace that inspired us more than she ever knew. We will miss her voice, her hugs, her guidance, and the comfort of knowing we could always call her. Though our heart is broken, we are deeply grateful for every moment we had as her children & grandchildren. Linda had a passion for children and for education and it was in that she taught elementary education for 30 years at Hanson Elementary where she touched thousands of young lives with her love of education.
She was born on March 30, 1953, in Madisonville Kentucky she was the cherished daughter of Junior Ray Merrell and Betty Sue Merrell (both deceased). It was there at Murray, she met her to be husband, Gary Guy Turner (deceased). They were married for forty-four years till his time of passing. Linda returned to further school graduating with her Rank 1 degree in Instructional Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction from Southern Indiana University. Linda and Gary are both survived by their children and grandchildren. Their son, Scott Turner and his son/their grandson, Ryder Philip Turner of Henderson Kentucky.
