Kenneth J. Epley, age 69, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on June 18, 2026.

Born on February 14, 1957, in Arcadia, Ohio, Ken was the son of Richard J. Epley and Bonnie J. Epley. Raised on a farm, he developed the strong work ethic, determination, and resilience that guided him throughout his life.

Ken worked in industry and manufacturing for many years, but he was also a talented carpenter and craftsman whose work can be found throughout Seneca County. He took great pride in building things to last. His daughters especially treasure a custom window seat and dollhouse he built more than 30 years ago, both of which remain standing today as a testament to his skill and care.

Ken enjoyed classic rock, playing guitar and bass, and admiring classic cars, especially the Chevrolet Chevelle. Known for his quick wit, hardworking nature, and stubborn streak, he left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Above all, Ken loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Crystal G. Epley and Anna E. Epley; grandchildren Benjamin J. Cochran, Ryan O. Onderi, and Taylor A. Williams; his former wife of more than 20 years, Janette M. Epley; and his siblings, Nancy A. Perreault, Keith A. Epley, David L. Epley, Ronald E. Epley, Richard E. Epley, Robert E. Epley, and Larry J. Epley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard J. Epley and Bonnie J. Epley; his son, Christopher L. Epley; and his brothers, Gerald E. Epley, Timothy L. Epley, and Kevin A. Epley.

Anna and Crystal would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Daphne, whose compassion and dedication brought comfort and dignity to their father during his time at Wexner Heritage. Thank you, Daphne—you exemplify the very best of caregiving.

In accordance with Ken's wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer, in the sunshine just as Ken would have wanted. Hawaiian shirts are required.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio State School for the Blind Foundation in honor of Christopher Epley and the profound impact the school had on his academic and musical pursuits. Dad—you are proof that genetics can be both a blessing and a curse. We love and miss you already.

Like the things he built with his own hands, Ken's legacy will endure for generations.
