In her first season wearing No. 10 for Victor Valley College, Jhenéy Wallace scored 10 points and pulled down five rebounds in an 89-22 win over Palo Verde on December 20, 2025, according to Victor Valley College Athletics. She was 20 years old when she died on July 15, 2026, after the car she rode in left Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass and rolled down an embankment, according to Pain in the Pass. Two others in the car were injured, one airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and the other taken to a trauma center.

Wallace grew up in Victorville and graduated from Victor Valley High School in 2024. That fall she enrolled at Victor Valley College, where she played forward and center for the Rams as a freshman, wearing No. 10, according to Victor Valley College Athletics. Her college roster and initial post-crash reports list her legal surname as Harris. Her family and much of the Victorville community knew her as Jhenéy Wallace, the name her mother, Tamara Wallace, used when she opened a memorial fundraiser for funeral costs days after the crash.

In that fundraiser, Tamara Wallace called her daughter "so much more than a daughter she was my first born my best friend," and described her as "a loving big sister, cherished granddaughter, niece, cousin, teammate, and friend."

The fundraiser drew support across the high desert within days, from teammates and neighbors who watched her grow up there. At Victor Valley College, the box score from that December night against Palo Verde, 10 points and five rebounds, stands as her freshman season's unfinished record. What stays is specific: a hometown that knew her by two names, a team that wore her number, and a mother who called her, simply, her best friend.
