Jerry Wayne Roberts
Jerry Wayne Roberts, age 84, of North Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, in Irvine, California, surrounded by his loving family while undergoing cancer treatment.
Jerry was born on June 9, 1941, in Ralls, Texas to Sullivan and Geneda Faye Roberts (Henexson). One of nine children, he grew up in a large and close-knit family alongside his siblings Milton, Betty, Dale, J.T., Doris, Jimmie, Dana, and Rodney. After his father passed when Jerry was just 15, he worked various jobs to help support the family while still managing to graduate from Ralls High School in 1958.
He went on to attend Texas Western College (now the University of Texas at El Paso), where he earned a bachelor's degree in business management. Shortly before leaving for college, Jerry married his childhood sweetheart, Lawana "Ann" Roye. The couple was very young when they wed - Jerry was 18 and Ann was 16. While living in El Paso, they welcomed their first son, Kevin "Tracy" Roberts, in 1961.
Jerry began his career with S.S. Kresge (later known as Kmart) shortly after graduation. His work took the family across the country, living in Scottsdale and Tempe, Arizona, Columbus, Ohio, and Fresno, California, where their second son, Trevor, was born in 1967. In 1975, Jerry brought his family to Southern California, where they made Orange County their home for nearly thirty years. While living in Mission Viejo, he managed the Post Exchange (PX) at the El Toro Marine Base for several years.
Jerry and Ann later retired to Meeker, Oklahoma, where they spent five joyful years living on a five-acre ranch. After Ann's passing in 2008, Jerry sold their Oklahoma home and moved to North Las Vegas, Nevada, where he lived for the remainder of his life.
Jerry's greatest joys in life were reading, watching sports, cheering for his son Tracy on the golf course, visiting the El Cortez Casino, playing with his great-grandchildren, and taking road trips with his youngest brother, Rodney.
