Elizabeth Ann Allen (Libby), 68, of Augusta, Maine, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on December 11, 2025, at 5:38 p.m.
Libby was a woman whose kindness and warmth touched everyone she met. She is lovingly survived by her devoted son, Mark Allen, and Tasha Litchfield, along with her children and Libby’s granddaughters, Lexie and Kayliana Allen. She was also deeply loved by her nieces, Michelle Parent, Holly Reed, and Amanda Nile, and her siblings, Judy Carver, Harold Belmain, and Sheldon Belmain.
She was born on June 20, 1957, the daughter of the late Elden and Lela (Cayford) Belmain, in Heartland, Maine. As an adult, she returned to Waterville Adult Education to earn her GED, completing her high school education with determination and pride. She went on to achieve multiple certifications in health care, mental health, and motivational services, reflecting her lifelong commitment to learning, personal growth, and helping others. Her late sister, Pearl Parent, owned and operated a daycare from her home for 25 years, and Libby thankfully assisted her while pursuing her own goals. Libby dedicated approximately 10 years working in daycare and 7 years in ESM, as well as a total of 25 years in a career spanning health and motivational services, working in various roles that allowed her to care for and inspire others.
Libby was also a hardworking, loving single mother who devoted herself entirely to her son, Mark. Her strength, perseverance, and motivation were inspired in part by her late best friend, Barbara Villeux, whose bond she cherished throughout her life.
Libby valued her independence and was lovingly supported by Rachel Small, Amanda Nile, and Mark Allen.
Libby cherished spending quality time with her family during weekly dinner and movie nights.
She especially enjoyed barbecues with her nieces, Michelle Parent and Holly Reed, and their families.
Annual family camping trips were a treasured tradition for Libby. She delighted in playing countless card games with her grandchildren, often sharing stories, teaching them new games, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. These trips were also a special time to reconnect with her nieces and nephews — Michelle Parent, Amanda Nile, Holly and Denise Reed, Karen and Jessica Belmain, Kayla and Becca Hanson, Jeff and Danny Small, her best friend Barbara Villeux and her daughter Elli Chobot — as well as her siblings Judy Carver and Harold Belmain and all of their families. She found great joy in seeing everyone together, sharing meals, laughter, and quality time.
Libby will be lovingly remembered for her deep devotion to family, especially the cherished weekends and sleepovers she spent with her sister, Judy Carver. Together, they found joy in simple moments at home—crafting handmade Christmas ornaments and gifts, cooking and baking, and filling the house with warmth and laughter. They also took great pride in caring for and decorating the family lot where their brothers, sisters, and beloved parents rest, honoring them with thoughtful touches and quiet dedication. Through these acts of love and remembrance, Libby’s gentle spirit and enduring family bond will never be forgotten
Libby will be fondly remembered for the deep love and joy she found in her relationship with her brother, Harold Belmain, and his husband, Raymond Laurie. She treasured their conversations and looked forward to the letters they exchanged, as well as the jokes and messages they shared online and on Facebook, which never failed to make her smile. Libby loved Harold dearly and held him close in her heart, cherishing their bond and the laughter, warmth, and connection they shared throughout the years.
Before the passing of her beloved sister, Pearl Parent, Libby found great joy in tending her garden, nurturing flowers and plants with care, and creating a beautiful, shared garden. She also delighted in exploring local lawn sales, finding treasures, and sharing little discoveries with Pearl to perfect their garden.
Libby now rejoins her beloved siblings — Glennys Reed, Shirley Small,Pearl Parent, Gene Belmain, — her nephews and niece Cheryl Hanson Wilson small (little Bill), Christopher Reed, her devoted mother, Lela Belmain, and beloved best friend Barbra veilleux in eternal peace. Her kindness, love, and warmth will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
