David Alvin Johnson, born 11/08/1946 passed peacefully on March 20, 2026.
David enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and strangers. Everywhere he traveled he managed to find someone with a connection to his hometown, Ada, MN.
He was an avid photographer, historian and computer enthusiast. David was born in Ada, Mn to Alvin and Marjorie Johnson. He, his brother, Sam and sister, Debra were raised by his father after an automobile accident took his mother.
David graduated from Ada High School and then from Moorhead State College. His photography studio in Ada was well known. David worked with the Norman County Historical Society, for the Cokato Museum and the McLeod County Historical Society. He also was a music fan and could play any stringed instrument he found.
He was preceded in death by his sister Debra. He is survived by his wife Debora, his brother, Sam, his children Cassandra, Marjorie, Emily and Dylan (Abby Tweed) as well as his grandchildren Morgan and Rory. He is also survived by brother-in-law Tom Kolness and two nephews Chris and Kelly Kolness.
The family would like to thank the exceptional staff at Harmony River Living Center for their attention and care to David over the last 22 months. Also, thank you to the Ecumen Hospice staff.
