Denzil Alan Cheek, known as Alan, passed away at his home in Millington, Maryland, in late July of 2026.
Alan was born to Denzil Truman Cheek and Virginia Nichols Cheek on October 28, 1965, in Cleveland, Tennessee. He moved to Baltimore with his family in 1970, later relocating to the Eastern Shore and ultimately graduating from Wicomico High School.
Alan enjoyed a career in IT services before retiring early due to disability. He was an active Freemason in Chester Lodge #115 for many years, as well as a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Millington. He was highly intelligent, a voracious reader, and the proud owner of a cockatoo named Mowgli. He loved to sing, played several instruments, and enjoyed many long motorcycle rides in his younger days.
Alan was predeceased by his mother, Virginia Cheek, and his sister, Susan Cheek. He is survived by his father Denzil Truman Cheek (Louise Cheek), his siblings Robert Cheek and Sarah Cheek, and his daughters Catherine Cheek and Nichole Cheek. He is also survived by a number of kindhearted neighbors and community members who looked out for him over the years.
