Chase Pistone
American racing driver, car builder, and team owner
Chase Pistone, a respected figure in American motorsports and a former NASCAR competitor, passed away in March 2026 at the age of 42. A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Pistone carried on a proud family legacy in racing, being the grandson of two-time NASCAR Cup Series winner "Tiger" Tom Pistone. His untimely passing has left a void in the racing community, where he was known for his diverse talents both behind the wheel and in the garage.
Pistone's journey in motorsports began at the tender age of six, quickly establishing himself as a formidable talent. He achieved significant success in his early career, notably winning the Summer Shootout Championship Legends four times between 1999 and 2005. His prowess extended beyond Legends cars, accumulating over 80 feature event wins across Legends, Late Model, and USAR competitions.
His professional career saw him compete in various NASCAR developmental series. Pistone made his debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2005 at Martinsville Speedway and later in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (then Busch Series) in 2006. He also made a notable ARCA Menards Series debut in 2006, securing a top-10 finish at Iowa Speedway.
The 2014 season marked a significant period in Pistone's NASCAR national series career. He competed in 14 races in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with NTS Motorsports, achieving a career-best ninth-place finish at Gateway Motorsports Park. That same year, he also made three starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, with a best finish of 14th at Iowa Speedway.
Beyond his driving accomplishments, Pistone was also a successful entrepreneur and mentor in the racing world. He founded Chase Pistone Incorporated (CP Inc), a company dedicated to building and supporting Legends and Late Model stock cars. Through CP Inc, he provided leasing programs, setup tuning, and repair services, helping to nurture new talent in the sport.
In recent years, Pistone continued his involvement in motorsports as a crew chief. In 2024, he served as crew chief for the Stephen Nasse Racing team in the zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car Division, further demonstrating his deep understanding and passion for race car preparation and strategy. His contributions to grassroots motorsports and his dedication to the sport will be remembered by many.
