Radio and podcast personality
Bryan Bishop, the longtime sound effects operator and on-air fixture of The Adam Carolla Show known to listeners as "Bald Bryan," died September 18, 2026, in La Jolla, California. He was 48.
Bishop joined Adam Carolla's new radio program in 2006 as its sound effects operator, working alongside Carolla and co-host Teresa Strasser, according to LAist. He and Carolla both lost that job when CBS Radio cut costs and changed the station's format. Carolla kept going as a podcaster, and Bishop went with him, running the same drops and bits from behind a different microphone.
In 2009, Bishop married Christie Clough, an advertising executive, in a wedding in Napa Valley, according to LAist.
Bishop wrote "Shrinkage: Manhood, Marriage, and the Tumor That Tried to Kill Me," a memoir published by Thomas Dunne Books in April 2014. He and Christie had a daughter, Tessa, according to the family's GoFundMe page. Bishop kept working the boards and calling the show's bits for years afterward, stepping back from a regular seat on the show around January 2023 and continuing on as an occasional guest.
Seventeen years of sound drops and bits, first on the radio and then on the podcast that replaced it, are what Bishop left at the microphone. A book carries his own account, in his own words. A marriage, and a daughter. Christie and Tessa survive him.
