Albert (J.R.) Acosta, a beloved son, devoted friend, and unforgettable soul, passed away on July 17, 2026. Born on May 8, 1964. He was a man who lived life to the absolute fullest and left an undeniable, lasting impression on everyone who truly knew him.
J.R. was a man of unique character and delightful quirks. He had a playful relationship with language, preferring to give people nicknames rather than using their real names, and he famously avoided using the actual words for everyday things. He had an absolute hatred for voicemails, and his signature reaction to life's moments was a hearty, expressive "Geez!"
He possessed an incredible laugh—a wonderful sound somewhere between a guffaw, a snicker, and a belting, riotous laugh—that was so infectious it never failed to make those around him laugh along. While he was a joy to be around, he also had his passionately grumpy moments, particularly on the road.
Those who wish to honor Albert (J.R.)'s memory are invited to .

JR was always a pleasure. From our early days at DataReturn to when he joined me at Cyxtera, he was always the consummate professional with his clients best interest in mind. And that hair, I was always jealous of that wonderful hair :). Rest in peace my friend.

You were always so very good to this young kid storming around the office like I knew something. You were a shining example of kindness and patience in a high stress environment. That will always stay with me!

I remember the massive amount of conversations about how he had a thing for women with spunk, loved women who could talk tech, and his fascination with fashion . . . especially the scarf I had in my hair the day he hired me many many moons ago. (ROFL)

That is "Silky Smooth", the cat that claimed him at our house one day even though she didn't trust anyone. He couldn't take her, so we are her secondary and tertiary hoomans. :)
